Metadata Capture Screen Update
The Metadata Capture Capture Screen has been updated to reflect requests from users and changes to the University's search engine.
Description Field
Description is no longer a mandatory field. Why? Two main reasons:
- Errors and non-sensical data from auto population • We could not determine accurate and sensible descriptions for all of the content types in the CMS. The auto descriptions where muddying the water as opposed to adding value to the content.
- Lack of user review • Users do not generally review this field.
Resource Type Field
Around 90% of the content in the CMS was being tagged as 'other'. This lessens the usefullness of this field.
This field has been made 'optional' and placed on the 'Extended Fields' tab of the metadata capture screen.
